What does Discovery Financial Services do?
We're a family-run advice business in East Tamaki, Auckland, helping families and business owners with insurance, KiwiSaver and mortgages. We take the time to get to know you and stay alongside you over the years, reviewing your cover, KiwiSaver and home loan as your life changes. Ron Gadsdon started the business in 2009, and we've looked after more than 4,000 clients since.
How is working with us different from going straight to a bank or insurer?
You get an adviser who knows you and your situation, so you're not starting from scratch every time you call. We compare options from a range of insurers, lenders and KiwiSaver providers, explain them in plain language, and help you choose what fits your needs and budget. We're still here years later when you want to refinance, review your cover or make a claim.
Who will I be working with?
You'll work with one of our four advisers: Ron, Shane and Jason Gadsdon, who look after insurance and KiwiSaver, or Bradley Whitfield, our mortgage specialist. We're a small team, so you deal with real people who know your name and your story. Ron has been helping New Zealand families with insurance since 1986.

How much does your advice cost?
We don't charge you a fee for insurance or KiwiSaver advice. We're paid a commission by the provider you choose, and we'll always tell you what a recommended policy costs before you decide. Mortgage advice is usually free too, although a fee can apply in some situations, and we'll explain that upfront. Full details are on our Important Information page.
Do you keep in touch after I've taken out a policy, set up a KiwiSaver plan or home loan?
Yes, that's the part we care about most. We review your insurance, KiwiSaver and mortgage with you over time, because the right setup at 30 is rarely the right setup at 50. A new baby, a new house or a new business are all good times to give us a call.
Are you a licensed financial adviser?
Yes. Discovery Financial Services Limited (FSP150464) is licensed by the Financial Markets Authority to give financial advice, and Discovery Mortgages Limited (FSP1001261) is authorised under that licence. If something ever goes wrong and we can't put it right, you can go to the Insurance & Financial Services Ombudsman, a free, independent service.
